Renaissance Dreams
Generative Works, 2024
Renaissance Dreams explores the tension between creation and impermanence, inspired by the grandeur of the past and the fleeting nature of the present. This digital artwork, designed to slowly melt away, reflects the inevitable dissolution of all things—art, memory, even civilization itself.
Drawing from the Renaissance, an era that championed beauty, knowledge, and human achievement, this piece interrogates what remains when those ideals fade. Just as time erodes frescoes and statues, the digital realm, seemingly eternal, is just as fragile—prone to corruption, deletion, and decay.
The act of watching Renaissance Dreams dissolve is both meditative and unsettling. It reminds us that no creation, no matter how masterful, can escape transience. In this dissolution, however, there is also renewal—a cyclical return to possibility, echoing the Renaissance’s own rebirth of culture and thought.
Through this work, I invite the viewer to contemplate impermanence, to embrace the beauty of the ephemeral, and to find meaning in the act of creation itself, even as it fades.
